Max and Vray Test 1 by IgnisFerroque Max and Vray Test 1 by IgnisFerroque
My first render with 3ds Max and Vray.. i started working with Max a week ago, not the worst result id say... although some of the geometry ended up in a pretty bad shape... mainly the room itself since it was the first thing i did...

Comments and Critique very appreciated

Nice!

I would go a little lower on the displacement/bump myself but apart from that, great work!

I tried to use Blender but i couldnt get used to the Interface at all. Unfortunate, i really like some of the results that people produce with it :P
Thanks! :)

Looks great, only quibble would be the floor, looks a bit too much on the bump/displacement map side, but if this was my first render I'd fell very happy!

Nice and realistic picture.
I think the bump on the floor is too high.
The sun effect is magnefic. Congratulation!

Quite beautiful. I truly enjoy the pop of green. Bet it's fabulous even on gloomy days. This is a true showing of talent, making a room glow so wonderfully and look so fantastic even when it's not my typical style taste. Great job!

I agree with ThexDuke about the couch fabric. It looks kind of vinyl-ish. Maybe some little creases in the fabric? (if you're aiming for realism).
I like how the light falls on the ceiling and on the floor. :D This is a nice render! You've only worked with Max for a week? Wow! I worked with it for a whole semester and I didn't even come close to this! :D
The TV wall... that looks a little unfinished... or unpainted. Also, the wooden floor looks a little too texturey.
But this is a lovely render. :D

Didnt know how to do decent looking creases in Max, but yes might have been better ;)

Ah, ive used other 3D programs for quite some time and Max doesnt seem to be that different from C4D. I tried Blender last year and gave up after a few days ;)

Thanks :)

I envy Vray users. -_-

Wonderful work for only a week using 3DS MAX & VRAY.

Which packages were you using before?

It would have been a nice touch if the books had labels on them (probably not legible from this distance anyways). It's not very often someone owns a ton of nameless books, ya know?

Other than that, I assume this is a fairly new or unused house, because if you wanted it to look lived in there would probably be more mess. Even if the owner is clean, there might be a couple of magazines or a remote on the table in front of the couch. You know, small touches like that. They're easy to think of if you just walk around your home.

But the work is beautiful, definitely. I love this layout, and when I saw it in my inbox I thought it was a photo. I love your design and your use of textures and details. This is pretty awesome.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Max or Vray, so I don't know how to comment on the "artifacts".

Hehe true about the books, but its annoying to find/make a different texture for each.. its easier with old books, a random leather texture is easier to do ;)

And also true about the little details, but i got a bit bored with the scene and wanted to finish it :D

Thanks!

Good work for a first shot so far. But I have some crits. First of all your floor bump looks strange. It seems that the bump is a) too strong and b) somehow in wrong direction. Check your normals on the floor. The fabric-pattern on the couch is way too big and the shader looks more like a wallpapaer than a couch. The TV screen-shader is very flat and is lacking glow and reflectance. Overall it seems you only have a chrome a glass and some colored lamberd shaders for the entire scene. Only the floor seems to have some kind of specular maps...and that works very well. It is a very good start anyway....keep it up.

True, i forgot to change the floor, it actually bugged me all the time when i made my preview shots.. ;)
I mainly concentrated on the modelling, the textures where done rather quickly and i didnt want to exaggerate them like i usually do... still much to learn about Vray

Thanks for the comment!

No problem, that was the only thing after squinting and getting really close to the screen that I could tell something was 'off'

I wanna know when a place like that is gonna go on sale! So I can tour it and oogle it and know I'll never afford it XD!
